On this edition of Free Culture Radio: World Drug Report 2025. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime released the 2025 edition of its annual World Drug Report on June 26.
Whether or not one regards the World Drug Report as a compendium of selected statistics and self-serving analysis designed to justify UNODC’s continued existence, there’s no question it serves as a source of data.
Recently, the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy and UNODC held a pair of online events to discuss the World Drug Report, the first coordinated from Austria, the second coordinated from the United States. On this edition of Free Culture Radio we hear portions of the US event, including presentations by Daniel Ciccarone, MD, MPH, a professor of family community medicine at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, and Daniel Mejia, PhD, an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
